Acquisition Announcement

On behalf of Farmers Union Cooperative, I am excited to announce the acquisition of Simon’s Grain & Feed Inc of Manchester, IA. With this acquisition, Farmers Union Cooperative will take possession of the feed mill, grain facility, offices, retail store and storage units.
The final closing date has yet to be determined but looks to be before June 16th, 2023.
Farmers Union Cooperative, and the services we provide, are ever changing, but one of our staples has long been our feed services. We have seen substantial growth in our feed business over the last several years. While this is a positive outlook for our cooperative, it has caused constraints along the way. Our ability to keep up with the demand and our high standards of service for our patrons has led to long hours of work for our valued employees. With the addition of the Manchester location, we will gain operational efficiencies not only for our services but for our employees as well. Also, our Feed Division, led by our VP of Feed Justin Steffens and his team, will be able to continue to grow our feed business and improve our ability to better serve our patrons.
The Manchester feed mill built in 2020 has many automated features that allow it to produce at a high capacity with less stress on our employees while achieving max production. The feed mill produces 600 tons per 24 hours and comes with a grain storage facility attached.
We look forward to continuing to serve all our patrons for many years to come and this step will help us do so better. Thanks again for all your business and support over the years and years to come.
